EA ribbon > Specialize > Model Expert > Reference Models, Select a Reference Model > Expand, Choose an Element type > Edit

Source Choose the source for this element type definition
  • Simple EA type/stereotype – Choose a simple EA type & stereotype, which is not defined in an MDG, OR
  • MDG name – If from an existing MDG, then useful information can be copied over, and the modeler will create instances based on the definitions in that MDG.
  • MDG meta-type – Note: as well as choosing from the MDGs which are installed, you can also type the name of one of the built-in EA MDGs, such as EAREQ or BIZBOK
User-visible name If you choose to generate an MDG from this Reference Model, this is what the modeller will see in a diagram toolbox, so you can make this name something they will recognize. For example, in their national language.
Use Custom UI for elements of this type Defines whether this element type will use the custom UI for editing it’s properties Customizing the EA properties UI
is abstract Click this if you don’t want modellers to create elements with this type. Use this when you want the type to be inherited by some other types, because it has some useful connectors and attributes which you want inherited. Stereotypes inheriting from other Element Types
Inherits from Choose which other element type this inherits from. Allows an abstract type (see above) to contain common connectors and attributes
Help URL URL which can point to an intranet site where the modellers can get more information about this element type
